| Approximately one third of admissions of children to intensive care units are related to cardiac diseases, the vast majority congenital heart defects. Most of these children require heart surgery in the first weeks and months of life involving complex surgical and intensive care management. Much of the progress in recent years in improving survival has focused on better pre and postoperative intensive care. The PCICS is dedicated to bringing together an international group of physicians, surgeons, nurses and other related professionals to meet, discuss and learn how better to manage these deserving and challenging children. |
