A European Society for Surgical Research (ESSR) 2014-ben Budapesten rendezi meg 49. nemzetközi kongresszusát.
A Kongresszushoz kapcsoltan több, eddig is nagy sikerrel megrendezett sebész-technikai képzésre nyílik lehetőség.
A kongresszus egyik különlegessége a European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT) egyik diviziójának a 'Young Professionals in Transplantation' csatlakozása lesz. Ennek első eredménye a ‚Carrier development Session‘, mely alkalmával a nemzetközi tudományos életben is elismert szakemberek bevonásával a fiatal sebészek karrierépítéssel kapcsolatos problémáira keresünk válaszokat.
A kongresszus alkalmával több nagy értékű díjat ítélünk oda a legjobb absztraktok benyújtói között.

Outsider art | Részvétel és együttműködés a kortárs művészetben
Előadások, bemutatók:
- Tóth Eszter: Az outsider art társadalmi vonatkozásai
A társdalom peremén élők művészetének megközelítési lehetőségei
Az outsider art a XX. század második felétől a kortárs képzőművészet élénk, kiegészítő eleme. Társadalmilag és kulturálisan is „kívülálló” alkotók és a társadalom sérülékeny csoportjaihoz tartozó személyek lenyűgöző, faragatlan művei.
Az outsider art művészeti-kulturális, egészségügyi és szociális területek találkozási pontja, metszete. Megmutatja, hogy az izolált élethelyzetek az alkotás egészen más perspektíváit nyitják meg. E művek érzékenységükkel képesek intenzív érzelmi viszonyt megteremteni a közönséggel is. Előadásomban holisztikus szempontok szerint vizsgálom a társadalom peremén élők művészetét, megközelítési lehetőségeit, kiemelten fókuszálva a társadalmi kontextusra és a befogadói attitűdökre.

- Csatlós Judit: Együttműködés és részvétel a kortárs művészetben
Előadásomban együttműködésen és részvételen alapuló kortárs művészeti gyakorlatokat mutatok be. Értelmezésem szerint ezek a kezdeményezések a művészet lehetséges társadalmi szerepét a demokrácia és a részvételi kultúra viszonyában határozzák meg.

W1 Giving evidence to the Tribunal - science or art?
This is an interactive skills workshop on giving evidence. The three presenters will give advice on the evidence required by the tribunal panel focussing on the legal criteria (led by Judge), presenting risk information and appropriate treatment.
Delegates will leave with a clearer understanding of how to be a competent medical witness at a mental health tribunal.

S7 Mental Health Informatics: health records, apps and priorities for the future
The first part of the session will cover the implementation of e-health projects such as Care.Data and its implications for research, service development and confidentiality.
The second part of the session will cover Mental Health apps and their use in clinical settings and by patients.
The third part of the session will cover recent developments in mental health informatics and priorities for the future.
W6 Cardiac assessment and QTc monitoring in mental health patients, principles and competencies
This workshop aims to look at management of cardiac risk in psychiatric patients. It will focus on identifying risk factors and relevant investigations including interpretation of the QT measurements on the ECG.

S41 Terrorism in the 21st Century: a new world without boundaries
The learning objectives of this session are:
- To learn about the varied factors which may lead some individuals to become terrorists
- To learn about how to frame and develop responses to prevent the recruitment of terrorists
- To learn how to frame and develop response to prevent individuals who have fought in Wars away from their home country in acting as terrorists in their home country.
