| Thirty years of Dendritic Cell Symposia created a unique and world-wide operating network of research groups dedicating their work to better understand the role of dendritic cells in health and disease and to harness their therapeutic potential. Initiated by the discovery of Ralph Steinman at Rockefeller University, New York, in the early 1970s, European scientists were attracted by this exciting field of research early on and continue to make major contributions. 
 Thus, it is our great pleasure to invite you to join us at the 15th International Symposium on Dendritic Cells in historic Aachen. This city is not only located in today’s tri-state-area between, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany but also represents a true European place having been home to Celtics, Romans, Merovingians and Franconians alike in the past.
