Dear Colleagues,
Population aging is a global phenomenon. The fastest growth of the aging population is taking place in China, India and other countries of South Asia Region.
As ageing is the single most important risk factor for dementia, the largest numbers of persons with dementia are living in this region. Out of the estimated 36 million persons living with dementia worldwide, nearly 60% live in developing countries and this figure is likely to reach 70% by 2050.
The magnitude of dementia and its impact on the institutions of society is being recognised and realised in many of these countries only recently. With increase in life expectancy and the ageing population, the problems associated with dementia will also rise.
So, while it is important to develop policies and strategies for action at national level, it is also important for countries to join hands to improve understanding and share expertise and experience.
The health systems in this region exhibit great diversity in their functioning. Only a handful of countries in this region are effectively addressing the issue of dementia with the governments recognising it as a public health issue with adequate allocation of financial and human resources. In most countries, there is little awareness on dementia, which is often assumed as a natural consequence of aging. The lack of awareness causes stigmatisation, dehumanisation, delayed diagnosis and adverse physical, economic and emotional consequence for the family and care givers.
This conference “Emerging challenges of dementia in the Asia Pacific Region” is being organised to bring together medical professionals, care providers, nursing and paramedical professionals; social and health organisations; and governmental agencies to deliberate on issues related to risk factors, preventive strategies, advocacy and policies for better facilities for diagnosis and care.
We extend a cordial invitation to all to attend the conference. We hope that we can collectively create a better environment for dementia care and bridge the gap between availability and need of resources for dementia care.

Dear friends and colleagues,
It is our great pleasure and privilege to invite you to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia in June 2022 for the 54th ESPN Annual meeting.
The scientific committee of the ESPN 2022 is proud to prepare a program of outstanding scientific quality in collaboration with several international societies to stimulate cross-talk between different specialties involved in the treatment of children with kidney and bladder disorders. Experts from our society as well as international speakers will join forces to deliver state-of-the-art lectures, generate debate and identify questions for future research. The program includes a full spectrum of presentations from master classes, basic research and tertiary care nephrology to nephrology issues in a more general pediatrics setting. IPNA-ESPN Master for JC program and teaching classes will also be held before the main congress. Our program is designed with young nephrology fellows in mind, the future of our society.
The meeting will be held in Ljubljana, in the Cankar Hall, the largest Slovenian convention, congress and culture center.
Ljubljana is Slovenia's capital and largest city in Slovenia. It's known for its university population and green spaces, including expansive Tivoli Park. It is one of Europe’s greenest and most livable capitals. The curving emerald-green Ljubljanica River, flows through the city’s heart, free for pedestrians and cyclists, and is lined with many outdoor cafes, which in summer set up a terrace seating along the river. It divides the city's old town from its commercial hub. Ljubljana has many museums, including the National Museum of Slovenia, displaying historic exhibitions, and the Museum of Modern Art, home to 20th-century Slovene paintings and sculptures.
The local organization team is fully motivated and actively at work to create a lively event that will offer an unforgettable experience for all participants.

We are proud to announce our Third IPNA-ESPN Junior Master Classes (Third Cycle)!
This year, it will be held in hybrid format, in Ljubljana (Slovenia) on 20-21 June 2022, before the 54th Annual Scientific Meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Nephrology.
For this Third Class, we are planning a 2-day course. ESPN and IPNA teachers will review latest updates on Hypertension, Acute Kidney Injury, Chronic Kidney Disease, Dialysis and Transplantation. Additionally, an Interactive Clinico-Pathology session is being planned.
This IPNA-ESPN educational program is especially dedicated to Pediatrics residents, Pediatricians with special interest in Pediatric Nephrology, fellows in Pediatric Nephrology and young Pediatric Nephrologists. The whole program includes three meetings in three consecutive years, the full attendance will allow the achievement of the IPNA-ESPN Master.
A certificate of attendance will be distributed after this meeting.
This course attendance is free of charge, IPNA-ESPN updated membership is mandatory.
