| 'Veres János Emlékhely' bemutatása (Debrecen, Kapcsolat Napja, 2012.02.18.) |

Nevezetes esemény volt Tanszékünk életében, hogy 2009. június 4-én Veres János özvegyétől, Dr. Csörgey Mártától Prof. Dr. Mikó Irén -a Sebészeti Műtéttani Tanszék munkatársai és Prof. Dr. Sándor József jelenlétében- átvehette az eredeti „Veres tű”-t az Orvos- és Egyetemtörténeti Múzeum számára. A tű ünnepélyes átadásán Dr. Veres János családtagjai is megjelentek és ez az esemény a család budai otthonában bensőséges körülmények között történt.
A 2010. február 20-án rendezett V. Kapcsolat Napján Orvostörténeti Kiállítást mutattunk be, melynek első része „a Veres tű történeti múltjának bemutatása volt a laparoscopos sebészi beavatkozásokig”.
Ezt követően a Kenézy Villa ünnepélyes megnyitójára, 2010. június 9-én Tanszékünk vendégeként megjelent Dr. Csörgey Márta és Dr. Veres Andrea, ahol ők is részesei lehettek ezen orvostörténeti eseménynek és megtekinthették a méltó körülmények között elhelyezett Veres tűt az adományozó dokumentumokkal együtt.
Furka István Professzor 2011. október 20-án a Magyar Sebész Társaság Sebészeti Endoszkópos Szekció Kongresszusán, Visegrádon „Veres János Emlékérem” kitüntetésben részesült a laparoscopos sebészeti technika 1992. februárjától Debrecenben történő oktatásának bevezetéséért és az azóta is folyamatosan végzett ilyen irányú tevékenységéért. Az emlékelőadás megtartásához felvette a kapcsolatot Veres János feleségével, Dr. Csörgey Mártával és lányával, Dr. Veres Andreával és fiával, Veres Miklóssal. A Veres család meglátogatása során az a megtiszteltetés érte, hogy a Veres János vonatkozásában féltve őrzött dokumentumokba betekinthetett, azokat felvételeken rögzíthették. A család hozzájárult, hogy a látogatáskor készített fotó dokumentumokat a Sebészeti Műtéttani Tanszék területén létrehozandó „Veres János Emlékhely”-en megőrizzük, illetőleg azokat bemutathassuk.
Az emlékhely ünnepélyes megnyitása 2012. február 18-án, a DE OEC VII. Kapcsolat Napján történik.
A fotódokumentumok Veres János egykori leckekönyvét, az itt szerzett orvosi diplomáját, néhány festményét és egyéb debreceni vonatkozású iratait mutatják be.

A kiállítás helye: Sebészeti Műtéttani Tanszék „B” épület I. emeletének előadóterme (Debrecen, Móricz Zsigmond krt. 22., az oktató műtőket is magába foglaló régi épületünk.
Az ingyenes gépkocsi belépő hely a Móricz Zsigmond krt-tal párhuzamos szerviz út végén, a VII. bejáratnál lehetséges).
