It gives us great pleasure to announce that the ESC Congress 2007 will be held in Vienna, Austria, from Saturday 1 to Wednesday 5 September 2007.
The best recent scientific developments and novel research will be presented to medical professionals who deal with cardiovascular diseases in the course of their professional activity. The ESC Congress is a unique forum where medical professionals can meet their colleagues from all around the world, and exchange ideas and information in the field of cardiovascular medicine.
As always, the scientific programme of the ESC Congress will make every effort to highlight the most relevant issues in the diagnosis, management and treatment of cardiovascular disease, ranging from basic, clinical and population research. Research from investigators around the world will be presented in special lectures, dynamic and interactive educational sessions, as well as the traditional abstract-based programme, with oral presentations and posters, many of which will be moderated.
A large part of the programme is dedicated to practical, clinical science. FOCUS sessions with LIVE transmission from various locations in Europe, will demonstrate practical skills and knowledge which will be shared with the audience. In the imaging and intervention FOCUS sessions, technical skills and the newest technology are combined. In addition, the practical "How-to" and "Meet the Experts" sessions, have been expanded in numbers. Emphasis is placed on clear take-home messages that can easily be transposed into clinical practice by the medical professionals who take part in the ESC Congress. The newest guidelines will be discussed in dedicated sessions.
Another important component of the ESC programme is the basic science track, headed by the Council for Basic Cardiovascular Science, an exciting track will be offered. The sessions will be presented in bench-to-bedside format, focusing on the translational aspect of basic science, but also highly specific basic science research will be presented.
In Vienna, advantageous registration conditions will be offered again to young investigators in basic science in order to encourage greater participation.
