On behalf of the Organizing and Scientific Committee of 2nd International Workshop on Lung Health, COPD: New Challenges, New Solutions (COPD 2015), we would like to inform you about this upcoming congress and to approach you for possible cooperation.
COPD 2015 will take place on February 19-21, 2015 in Valencia, Spain and will be dedicated to the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and its impact on lung health. To present, discuss and debate both the latest basic and clinical findings as well as the current challenges involving bone and kidney, join us this coming Fall in Copenhagen. The International Society of Nephrology’s Bone and the Kidney Nexus Symposium, October 12-15, 2006 represents an exciting opportunity to join research to practice and the ideal forum to ultimately propose new avenues for research at the laboratory level as well as improve diagnosis, patient management and care.

The Bone and Kidney’s basic science sessions will be grouped according to there themes: Transporters (structure-function interactions, proteins); Receptors and cellular mechanism of regulation; and Phosphatonins.
The clinical sessions will focus on Genetic diseases of bone and kidney; Osteoporosis and renal osteodystrophy; and the Relationship between bone/mineral metabolism disturbances and cardiovascular disease in CKD and management.
Finally, the special translational sessions will cover: Urinary infection & nephrolithiasis; Molecular aspects of mineral metabolism diseases; and Pediatric renal osteodystrophy: unique challenges in the growing skeleton.

The International Society of Bone Morphometry (ISBM) is pleased to announce that it will award 5 Young Investigator Awards, sponsored by the International Bone and Mineral Society (IBMS).
The Congress will take place at the Wyndham Hotel, (soon to be renamed the Sheraton Downtown Hotel) in Philadelphia, close to the Convention Center immediately following the end of the ASBMR annual meeting from September 19-22, 2006.
These awards ($400 each) will be given to the 5 highest ranked abstracts submitted by young investigators who are under 40 years of age and members of IBMS. Abstract ranking will be based on the score given to each abstract by the Scientific Review Committee.
Membership of the International Bone and Mineral Society will be confirmed before awards are made and non-members who wish to apply for an award can join IBMS at www.ibmsonline.org
Plenary Sessions include,
1. Bone Quality: What are we assessing/measuring with current techniques and what does the future hold?
2. Morphometry in preclinical models of bone diseases
3. Renal osteodystrophy and low bone turnover in other systemic diseases
4. Bone morphometry in orthopaedics
5. Molecular imaging: Linking morphometry and cellular function
6. Skeletal fragility and turnover: Matrix, mineralization and cells
