Like previous meetings, there is a high quality scientific program related to research in Basic and Clinic areas in Hypertension, State-of-the-Art Lectures, Satellite Symposia, Breakfast Workshops, Working Groups sessions and credits for qualifying as Hypertension Specialists of the European Society of Hypertension.
Hypertension has become the number one cause of death in the world according to a WHO supported investigation. Despite the many scientific advances of the past few decades, much work remains to be done. Although we all do our best to reduce coronary heart disease, stroke, heart failure and cardiovascular complications, diabetes and obesity continue to increase worldwide. Primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases require a global approach of the cardiovascular risk, and an in-depth understanding of the mechanisms of hypertension. |

The educational full first day will be of utmost importance with increasing numbers of teaching courses and the new programme for nurses and AHPs, first established in Glasgow 2007. A series of oral and poster presentations will update the most recent original research worldwide, along with educational mini-symposia and scientific symposia.
