Presidential Greeting
The Hungarian Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (HSUOG) was founded in 1992. Thanks to the commitment and persistent work of its founders, it has developed into a successful professional community recognised both nationally and internationally. With over 1500 members, its professional successes and scientific results of recent years have transformed the Society into a respectable, opinion-forming forum, and it has become a determining factor in obstetrics, gynecology, and clinical genetics. The new Executive Committee and Advisory Board were inaugurated in September 2019. Since then, they have reviewed and formulated their goals and resolutions. One of the Society's most important tasks is to represent, strengthen, and guide the professional unity and community that has been formed over several decades. The current Boards share the same fundamental beliefs as the previous ones, representing the interests and benefits that are well-defined in the Society's Articles of Incorporation. They have a firm intention and a strong desire to continue strengthening the Society's unity.
HSUOG aims to:
- take a position on guidelines for obstetric and gynecological ultrasound diagnostics and coordinate them at a national level,
- promote undergraduate and postgraduate training at an international level,
- support theoretical and practical education,
- assist members in their professional activities and supervise their professional standards
- establish and maintain relationships with national and international organisations committed to similar goals
In a way, by formulating an opinion, the Society fulfills an advocacy role for its members and actively participates in the preparation of professional guidelines that regulate ultrasound diagnostic activities. The Society only accepts and proposes funding for studies that adhere to the recommendations and criteria outlined in these guidelines. The Society plays a decisive role in the development of obstetric-gynecological ultrasound diagnostics. It not only raises the standard of patient care but also provides education and training for colleagues. As part of its professional expectations, the Society significantly contributes to the elaboration of requirements for the obstetrics and gynecological ultrasound diagnostic license exam, accredits training places, and provides continuous training for qualified sonographers. Supporting the training of obstetric-gynecologic sonographers is a top priority for the Society. Over the past 30 years, it has held 15 national congresses with scientific programs that offer high-quality training for participants. We are confident that our reputation and educational character will continue to be maintained, thereby strengthening our community in the future. Lastly, building cooperation with international professional societies (ISUOG, FMF) is an important task to remain active in the international scientific community. As the President of the Society, I promise that we will do our utmost to successfully achieve the goals and proposals outlined above.
