Congress Travel Grants
- deadline 1 May each year
Principles
For Junior Members and Full Members not aged more than 40 years, a limited number of travel grants are available, which cover the registration fee, travel expenses (economy class) and accommodation in a budget hotel (an amount to be decided by Council each year, currently €1,500). To apply for this grant, a written request, including CV, present position and field of research, should be sent to the Secretary. The deadline for application is May 1st each year.

A member of the Society

Application:
The application, to be sent to the Secretary, must include a confirmation from the applicants chief that the applicant has no other funding for this purpose.

ESVS EDUCATIONAL TRAVEL GRANT

Principles:
The aim of the grant is to allow the applicant, over a short period of time, to look at a particular technique or research project in a European institution. A special committee of the Society will assess each application in a rapid and simple manner and the member of Council for the country of the applicant will be asked to confirm the applicant’s standing.

The applicant must be:

A Junior Member
A Full Member aged no more than 40 years as at the 31st December of the preceding year

Application:
The application letter should be sent to the Secretary with:
A curriculum vitae including a list of scientific publications
Statement of travel purpose
Recommendation from applicant’s chief
Letter of acceptance from the institute host laboratory or department be visited
Travel budget indicating the need for support

Research Grant

Principles:
The aim of the ESVS Research Grant is to facilitate research projects conducted by young European vascular surgeons. The amount of each grant will be limited in order to allow as many grants as possible to be approved and to help the maximum number of young surgeons. Allocation of the grants will be decided ultimately by the Scientific Committee set up to consider the merits of each application.
The maximum amount of funds allocated to the ESVS Research Grant will be decided by Council each year. The amount awarded to each successful applicant will be in accordance with the type of research and total amount of funds required to undertake the research.

Eligibility:
Applicants must be a member of the Society
Application:
The application for the grant should contain:
A curriculum vitae, including a list of scientific publications of which the applicant has been an author
A list of current research projects
An original detailed plan for the project for which the grant is required, giving precise details of thehost laboratory or department and the name of its chief
A letter of agreement from the chief of the host laboratory or department
A letter of recommendation froma member of the Society
A letter confirming the other grants the applicants has obtained to finance the cost of the research, or certifying that no further finance is required in this respect

The maximum amount of funds allocated to the ESVS Research Grant will be decided by Council each year
The amount awarded to each successful applicant will be in accordance with the type of research and total amount of funds required to undertake the research.
In cases where the Society finances part of the research project only, the applicant will receive agreement for a given amount; however, this amount will be paid only when the applicant has provided formal confirmation of funds from other sources of finance which cover the whole cost of the project.

Thrombosis Program - University of Ottawa Fellowship
The Thrombosis program of the Division of Hematology at the University of Ottawa is an active, academic, tertiary care subspecialty service. The Thrombosis program and its members are engaged in a wide variety of innovative clinical and research activities in the areas of (1) Diagnosis and treatment of venous thromboembolic disease and (2) Management of thrombophilia. Areas of research activity include basic science, clinical health, economic and outcomes research. The program‚s culture is one of energetic pursuit of the goal of bettering our patients‚ lives.
The Thrombosis program is currently accepting applications for a Clinical and Research Fellowship. The Fellowship includes a commitment to 75% protected research time and 60 K (CAN) salary. The successful applicant may also consider applying for the Master‚s of Clinical Epidemiology Program at the University of Ottawa and undertake one of the thrombosis program‚s research projects as a basis for their Master‚s thesis.
