On November 8, radiologists, radiographers, radiological technologists and professionals from related fields will celebrate the tenth International Day of Radiology (IDoR 2021) all over the world. Let’s celebrate together!

As every year, the International Day of Radiology (IDoR 2021) will once again be celebrated on November 8 with the aim of building greater awareness of the value that radiology contributes to safe patient care and improving public understanding of the vital role radiologists and radiographers play in the healthcare continuum.

In 2021, the International Day of Radiology will be dedicated to Interventional Radiology and its essential role in treating patients. As the world continues to face the challenges posed by COVID-19, it is extremely important to acknowledge the key role that medical imaging has in medicine, not only during unforeseen circumstances such as the pandemic, but also on a daily basis in all areas of patient care. Interventional radiology is a unique and growing subspecialty that helps and protects patients each and every day.

For IDoR 2021, we have chosen the motto ‘Interventional Radiology – Active care for the patient’. With this phrase, we invite everyone to celebrate the essential role that interventional radiology plays in treating patients. To help support these celebrations, we ask imaging professionals across the world to pause for a moment, look back at their hard work and celebrate the contributions of radiology in the active care of patients.

With this year’s motto, we also cordially invite individuals and organisations (national radiological societies, radiological subspecialty societies, radiographer societies & allied sciences societies, imaging departments etc.) throughout the world to share impressions of their day as they celebrate IDoR 2021:

• We invite you to send us photos of you and your colleagues celebrating IDoR 2021 at your workplace. To share your photos either send them to us at IDoR2021@myesr.org (together with a brief description) or post them on your social media accounts with the hashtag #IDoR2021.

Alongside these activities, we encourage all radiologists and radiographers to amplify the visibility of medical imaging on November 8, by being particularly active on social media and remembering to use the hashtag #IDoR2021.
