Cultural Psychiatry of Elderly Care
The aging of the population presents many challenges. People worldwide are living longer, and statistics is increasing dramatically.. According to the data of WHO the world’s population aged 60 years and older is expected to 2 billion until to 2050, compared to 900 million in 2015. Because of many aspects of these challenges of the theme we must deal with planned solutions by scientific way.
As this year was established the Hungarian Dementia Society, the annual congress of the Hungarian Psychiatric Association decided to determine the aging as the subject of the conference.
The speakers of this Special Session come from different part of our scientific field.
Prof. Afzal Javed the president elect of World Psychiatric Associarion will bring the situation of Asia countries, Prof. Istvan Boksay - prof emeritus of New York University wants ro speak about prevention of dementia, Dr. Tibor Kovács docens of Neurological Clinic of Semmelweis University about Alzheimer disease. The sociologist group of Partium Christian University - Prof. Györgyi Szilágyi, Dr. András Győrbíró, Dr. Judit Gombik and Tibor P. Bíró – about the Sociological Aspects of Aging, Dr. Levente Harai SJ about Christian Principles of aging Prof. Ede Frecska Psychiatric Clinic Debrecen, Antropology of Aging, Dr. Ida Kosza, Tibor P. Bíró Spiritual Group Therapy of Elderly People.
